Les hasards malheureux du pape, oil on canvas, 36 x 48 po
Karel is an artist with a great sense of observation, passionate about current events and art, she seeks to make the public react through an artistic approach focused on politics. The idea is to share her vision of today’s society. The pictorial subject is the inscription of the memory of several modernised classical works. The questions and reflections that nourish Karel’s art concern the relationship between freedom and authority, hierarchical relations and the abuse of power.
The artist opens herself to the vibrations of today’s society to remodel them to more denunciatory classic figurative forms. She wishes to give an emotional amplitude to her work which communicates the world around her. In this way, Karel manages to transmit through images the movement of the new society. She produces a series of oil paintings in the same formats. These canvases are reproductions of important earlier works that she updates with a 2018 touch, thus she seeks to make the viewer reflect amd making him travel.
