Jade Danis, also known as Mos Geez, is a multidisciplinary artist based in Montreal. Her style comes from her surreal sensibility. Among her favorite themes : destruction via reconstruction, abuse, limits, fragility, manipulation, distorsion of reality, human nature, etc.
Since 2013, Mos Geez became a wood addict, especially for its little veins. For the artist, the microcosm/macrocosm theory explains well her thinking. Her paintings are often muddy coloured with a big fluorescent contrast, which adds a chemical twist to the natural material. She mostly uses acrylic paint, ink, pastel and markers.
Mos Geez loves to add 3D on wood’s surfaces. In her new processes, she sculpts or digs the wood, depending on her emotions. It often happens to her to work with skulls, pork ears, fake diamonds, branches, little bones, etc.
