Jihane began teaching drawing at CDI College in 2014 and has fallen in love with the profession. She is currently completing the Bachelor of Fine Arts programme at Concordia University with a specialization in Art Education. She loves teaching both children and adults. In parallel, she is pursuing her artistic practice. Since 2009, Jihane has exhibited her works across North America and Europe and has on occasion created works for international horror and fantasy publications. In 2018, she was the recipient of the Glencross Family Award in Art Education from Concordia University.
When it comes to her work, Jihanecollects old discarded pictures; forgotten, thrown out and sold at auctions. She’s looking for a place where the viewer comes face to face with strangers’ memories through intimate paintings. Sometimes dark and often melancholic, it is her hope that these works will shed light on some of our own forgotten memories. We all have stories from our past, hidden deep within us.
