My work consists of exploring the delicate balance of exposed wood and paint strokes, blurring the line where one ends and the other begins. I combined my love of woodworking and art, and now make pieces that are more sculptural in nature. Painted on sheets of plywood, which are cut and layered, these new pieces have added depth, detail, and complexity. In addition, each artwork has a unique shape, without a straight edge in sight. Why should art, where creativity and freedom are supposed to be at the very core of the practice, be confined to 4 straight angles? I have found my unique style and a practice that encompasses my different creative passions, it’s my own customized art form. It’s big, bold, and unique; It’s me.
I want artists to be inspired by my work to step outside the beaten path, and try new techniques and take risks. There is way too much of the same in art today, and that is really what I’d love to take part in changing. To be unique is of the utmost importance to me.
