SIMO is a Montreal-based filmmaker, photographer, cinematographer and contemporary artist. Born in Port-au-Prince, they started drawing at a very young age, nourishing a strong curiosity for Nature and the paranormal. They moved to Quebec in 1999 to attend UQAM in Computer Science, then in Screenwriting.
SIMO wrote and directed several micro-budget short films, as well as music videos for local artists. They recently worked as cinematographer on several documentary projects for film and TV. They’re currently completing their first full length feature (Earthquake Weapon), a dark comedy about toxic masculinity.
SIMO’s art has been presented several times in Montreal (Eastern Bloc, Mile-End Gallery, Mc Bride Contemporain).
SIMO’s art studies the human condition, and the mechanisms of political power, from a caribbean perspective, tinted with Magical Realism.
