Exhibition space in a container that can be shared by 2 artists
HIGHLIGHTS 2023
The tents will simply be closed and secured by security guards.
Regarding the containers, it will be the responsibility of the artist to lock the container with a padlock.
WHO CAN APPLY
We urge visual artists and craft artists to apply, regardless of the medium used, their artistic background (established artists, students, arts graduates, self-taught, etc.) or provenance.

Mtl en Arts aims to include and encourage artists from diversity and emerging artists to become better known in the arts community by offering a discount on the participation fees.
YOUR CATEGORY
To qualify, you must meet one of the following conditions:
- Be a full-time or part-time student artist in the arts
- At the beginning of your career: have graduated in arts in the past 5 years (have graduated after June 30, 2017)
- Be self-taught with less than 5 years of professional experience
To qualify, you must have more than 5 years of experience and meet the following conditions:
– Declare yourself a professional artist
– Create works for your own account
– Have exhibited, produced, and published your works publicly, or marketed and represented by a promoter
– Be recognized by your peers as a professional artist, with an honorary mention, award, grant, nomination to a jury, selection for a show or other similar means.
APPLICATION PROCESS
Complete this online form (https://form.jotform.com/230350796678265 ), which must contain the following:
- 6 photos of your works – Digital photos (JPG format – 72 dpi resolution). The weight of each photo must not exceed 2 MB.Minimum format: 750 px (top and/or width) / maximum format: 1500 px (top and/or width). Procedure for naming photos: NOMDELARTIST_NUMERODELOUVRE.jpg
- List of works – Include the size, mediums used and title and the price of each work.
- Curriculum vitae – maximum of 2 pages
- Presentation text: biography including your artistic statement – short text in French and English (200 words maximum per version) * in WORD format (.doc). The biography summarizes the relevant information on your CV (studies, exhibitions, awards and recognitions, if any). The artistic statement must explain the artist’s progress, intentions, creative and production objectives.
- PORTRAIT photo: It will be used to accompany your presentation text in the virtual gallery under the following conditions:
- A portrait photo (head and chest or face only)
- On a white background
- Resolution 300 dpi

Choice of works
You must focus on coherent works, linked to each other with a well-defined style and that you intend to exhibit at the festival.
If you produce different types of work (painting, collage, sculpture…) or if you wish to present works in both categories (visual arts and crafts), please fill out a separate application.

Photo quality
Don’t neglect your images. The photo quality is taken into account.
We advise you to avoid taking them with your mobile phone.
You must frame and cut the photos using computer graphics software such as PHOTOSHOP.
The committee, made up of experts in the arts field, will base applications on the following criteria:
1) COMPOSITION: How does the artist construct his works by distributing shadows, colors, surfaces, light and matter? It is important to verify the strength of a work through an overall composition.
2) ORIGINALITY: The artist must present a dynamic and original work.
3) STYLE : The artist must demonstrate that the works are innovative.
4) APPRAISAL: Appreciation of the artist’s work.
The selection will start on April 24, 2023
For the sake of diversity, Mtl en Arts reserves the right to determine the different artistic categories or styles in equitable quantities
The decision of the jury (positive or negative) will be sent by email during the week of May 1, 2023.
All committee decisions are final.

Fees must be paid no later than May 17, 2023 by cheque, money order or credit card (VISA or MASTERCARD).
CONDITIONS
They must be original works of art, designed by the registered artist.
No derivative products other than silkscreens or postcards.
Artists must be on site at all times during the exhibition.
Please note that only the « Container » option can be shared between 2 artists (pilot project).
All works on display must be for sale and are for the sole benefit of artists.
Artists must make their own tax arrangements.
The site is secured but the festival’s insurance does not assume any damage or loss due to fire, theft, breakage, water damage or transportation risks.

- Selected artists who have not paid their fees by May 10, 2023, will not be considered.
- Artists who have cancelled before May 30, 2023 will receive a 50% refund of fees.
- No refund applies to cancellations made after May 30, 2023.

CANOPY 10′ X 10′ : This high quality, weatherproof tent has 4 sides (canvases). Works may be hanged from the structure of the tent, up to a height of 8′.
IDENTIFICATION: The sign in front of the tent bears your name, origin and booth number.
Please note that it is not necessary to dismantle your work in every night. It will be the responsibility of the artist to close the container with his own padlock. The space is totally secured against bad weather.

SPACE 10′ X 8′ in a container: This space is located in an 8′ x 20′ container, featuring 2 sliding doors. The container will be divided by a divider to which you can hang your artwork. Your artwork can be hung from 4 hooks attached to the container. Exhibition surface: 192 square feet
IDENTIFICATION: The sign in front of the tent bears your name, origin and booth number.
Please note that it is not necessary to dismantle your work in each night. It will be the responsibility of the artist to close the container with his own padlock. The space is totally secured against bad weather.
About the « share » option, each artist will have to complete the registration form indicating the name of the artist with which it will be shared.

FAQ
NO, you must rent a tent from Mtl en Arts for uniformity purposes.
YES, the supplier is responsible for setting up the tents the day before the event.
The space can be shared with another artist only in the « Container » option (pilot project).
YES. You will be able to leave your art hanging in your booth for the duration of the festival. Security personnel will be on site.

YES. You will need to obtain the necessary documents to enter Canada to sell your works. If your application is accepted and the exhibition fees are paid, it will be possible to provide you with a letter mentioning your participation in the festival for a period of time to support your visa application if necessary. All travel, accommodation, shipping, insurance and customs fees are at your expense. We recommend that you work with an authorized customs broker to import your works into Canada.
